A week after the attackman was given a release from his scholarship at North Carolina, Nicky Galasso has confirmed to Inside Lacrosse he's transferring to Syracuse. The Long Island native had previously expressed interest in the Orange, citing a desire to play close to home, but not at Hofstra.
Galasso does not have to sit out a year because he didn't pick an ACC school. However, Syracuse is joining that conference for the 2014 season, Galasso's senior year.
He was the 2011 ACC Freshman of the Year after being Inside Lacrosse's top recruit in the class of 2010. Galasso had 56 points on 24 goals and 32 assists in his first year. He battled a foot injury last year and only finished with nine points on six goals and three assists.
Galasso joins an Orange squad that lost two seniors — Tommy Palasek and Tim Desko — from last season. However, it also gained another transfer in former Johns Hopkins attackman Mike Daniello.
